Hatch properties in AutoCAD 2011 include a new Background Color providing you with more flexibility and control. Applying a background color enables you to create the effect of layered hatches in a single object. For example, you might create a grey brick hatch with a brownish background color to represent the mortar and brick in an elevation drawing.
You’ll find the new Background Color property on the Hatch Creation and Hatch Editor tab.
You can also access the Background Color property in the Properties palette when a hatch is selected. You might expect to find it below the traditional Color property. However, only general properties that apply to all types of objects are displayed in the General panel of the Properties palette. Since Background Color is specific to hatch objects, you’ll find it in the Pattern panel.
